Peace in the Park

This festival was a very nice expression of peace. While there were some people who expressed specific political points of view, overall it was really about peace in all forms.

There was information about ways to volunteer to help people around the world--through avenues such as the Peace Corps and through purchasing fair trade items made by people in Africa or South America.

Students there helped dispel the idea that our looks are an accurate reflection of who we are and our inherit "goodness" or lack thereof.

Musicians performed on the "lilypad" stage and around the lagoon. A Native American drummer on one side and and international dance group with smaller drums on the other.

Chalk artists of all ages created a sidewalk display of peace while others contributed to peace quilts and weavings.

Excellent weather added to the experience. Next year may it grow even larger!
