Abraham-Hicks, Louise Hay and Weight Loss Success

I spoke at an Abraham-Hicks meet up group last month. They wanted to hear how I have applied some of the Abraham-Hicks concepts to weight loss. It was really great to connect with a group of like-minded people and to be able to share some of my weight loss success tips.

I typically spend a couple hours every day...not all at once...listening to teachings from Abraham. I have heard them over and over...and yet I still hear something new just about every day.

The other morning I was watching one of the DVDs that was of a workshop that took place in Carlsbad, CA and guess who I noticed in the front row--Louise Hay! I don't know how many times I watched that DVD without seeing her...I guess there was a reason I saw her this time!

Louise is another teacher I really admire...and I have learned so much from her...and she really helped me to improve my self-image and lose weight. So, the combination of Louise and Abraham was wonderful to see. That would be the ideal workshop for me...well, maybe a few others present would be awesome too.

I have to laugh at myself...I don't fawn over the typical celebrity, but I think I might be a bit tongue-tied if I were face to face with Ms. Hay

Remember to Love Yourself

Loving oneself is not about feeling superior to others (that's not love)...love for yourself is a healthy respect for the being that is you. When we love ourselves we take care of ourselves and we also attract more good into our lives.

If you want a little help to remember to love yourself, you can actually get a shirt that will help! The clothing is available at retail stores...to find out more about the company and where you can get the clothes, check out their site a www.loveyourself.com

They have lots of links to some of our faves like Hay House, Abraham-Hicks and many, many more great teachers...you can also sign up for a Daily Love motivation

I really like their page with quotes about what some of our wonderful teachers say about what loving yourself means...

Enjoy--and remember, you deserve love!

And if you struggle with weight loss, read about loving yourself and losing weight at Refuse To Diet

Inner Voice

So many of the great teachers of today are reminding us that finding our passion, doing things that bring us joy is one of the best things we can do in this life--for ourselves and for the Universe.

Louise Hay teaches that we all deserve to feel good and that we have an inner wisdom that will guide us. Wayne Dyer tells us to be open to the inner voice. Doreen Virtue says to be open to the guidance of the angels. I could go on and on...Abraham teaches to reach for the better feeling thought, so he would definitely concur with this:
My dad always used to say, "If you take a step and it feels good, you must be headed in the right direction." What he wanted us to understand was that we needed to measure our progress against an inner compass, using our feelings, our comfort level, and our knowledge of ourselves as the ultimate guide.

I've spent most of my adult life trying to hear that inner voice above the noise around me...It says softly that happiness is as simple as having something to look forward to in the morning...It says, in a low murmur I sometimes have to strain to hear, that now is the time to have fun.
~Linda Weltner, No Place Like Home

Let me remember to listen to (and hear) that inner voice as it reminds me to follow my bliss. Now is the time to HAVE FUN, whatever that means for ME!

Taking Action is an Essential Part of the Attraction Equation

I was watching an interview with Cheryl Richardson today, part of the extended You Can Heal Your Life movie by Louise Hay. I love how I can watch these interviews over and over and hear something new each time...

Affirmation + Action = Miracles
~Cheryl Richardson
I have written about this numerous times...taking action is an essential part of the equation!

What Do I Want in My Life

Are you wondering why your affirmations aren't manifesting? How come the Law of Attraction doesn't seem to be delivering...if it is the "law" then where is the result?

I find that one of the biggest reasons for this is when I am not clear on what I actually want in my life.

If I vacilate about my dream home or my ideal partner or what I want my body to look like, then how can I expect the Universe to know what to give me?

Get clear through exercises like Michael Losier's Clarity Through Contrast or by listening to Louise Hay or other wonderful teachers of the Law of Attraction.

Get really clear about the elements you require, the experience you want and how that feels. Then you are setting the stage for the Universe to deliver.

Getting Clear on What I Want cont'd

Yesterday we talked about noticing what we don't want in order to get clear on what we do want

Another way to use this tool is to apply it to a specific area in our lives.

Michael Losier, another great teacher of the Law of Attraction calls it Clarity Through Contrast. It is pretty much the same idea, but with more direction.

Instead of looking at experiences in general that you don't want to have in your life, Michael directs you to think about a specific area in your life where you are not getting the results you want.

Whether you want to change your financial situation, your love life, your job, your house, your family life, etc, you can use this tool to open the way for the Law of Attraction to respond.

So, if I want to attract my dream house, but I'm not exactly sure what that would be, I would start by writing down what I do not want. This may be something that I have had in homes before, or things I see in homes of friends or family members, or things that I see when I've toured open houses. It might be about the yard or the kitchen. The size of the rooms. The number of stairs. Oh, no master on the main floor. So I quickly write down with as little emotion as possible the things that I do not want in my dream house. When I have finally exhausted my list, I then start to write the opposite. This is what I DO want. So if not having a master bedroom on the main floor was on my don't want list, obviously it will go on the side of what I do want.

I continue to write statements that describe what I do want, now that I'm clear on what I don't want.

Again, when I'm done with the list, the original list has served its purpose and I don't have to look at it again. I want to give my attention and energy to the things I DO want.

The mistake a lot of people make is they put the list away somewhere. Read the list of things you do want. Read it daily. Get excited about it. If you want to make changes to it, that's fine. Refine it. By giving it attention you are inviting Law of Attraction in and giving it clear direction and you are much more apt to get what you want--and get it more quickly.

Getting Clear on What I Want

Not sure what you DO want...okay, do you know what you don't want? Start there.

Louise Hay, wrote many years ago that you should write down a list of the things you don't want. This is not to dwell on those items--it is to help you clarify from that list what it is you do want.

So as your day goes along and you notice things that you wish were different, make a mental note of them. That night at home, write a list of the things you saw or experienced that you didn't like. Don't put a lot of emotion into this list, be as objective as you can. These are things that I am not wanting in my life.

Got that list? Great. Now read each item and ask yourself, if this is what I don't want, what do I want? Now write down that. Give it as much detail and emotion as you want. Go through your entire list until you now have two lists. Fold up the list of things you don't want...it has now served its purpose.

Focus your attention on the list of things you do want.

By placing your attention on the things you do want in your life you are opening the door for Law of Attraction to bring those things to you.

All is Well

I TIVO just about everything. I really enjoy that--so even though the Universe Likes Speed, sometimes I am personally better served by watching a show later on! I find that if I TIVO a show and then watch it when it is "speaking to me" there is generally a really good reason I waited to watch it. Besides perhaps it was on at an inconvenient time, or I was out of town!

One recent example was the Oprah Show. She had a guest panel on discussing The Secret. I've actually been studying the Law of Attraction (although not always seriously or steadily!) for about a dozen years. I love the movie and the book and I encourage everyone to read/watch it. It is a great introduction to the concepts.

I loved watching this panel of 4 powerful women--Oprah, Louise Hay, Cheryl Richardson and Martha Beck, discussing the power of intention, the power of our thoughts and how we can change our lives (and the world) through this powerful principle.

I've been going through a physical challenge since the beginning of the year that I was not getting past. Frankly it was starting to really get to me. Even though I know that the best solution is not talking negatively to or about my body, I was starting to think and feel as if my body was no longer whole. And it was pissing me off! I tried working through it, which only made it worse. I tried all the normal doctor remedies (rest, ice, etc). I tried anti-inflammatories. Nothing was working. I was not able to do the things that I wanted to do and I was choosing to allow that to affect my entire demeanor, about everything. I was feeling less than useful. My sense of self and self-worth was deteriorating. Rapidly.

For whatever reason one afternoon I decided to take a look at the television and see what I had in the magic TIVO box. Then the ladies came on.

I am now back to my affirmations and I am already feeling emotionally and physically better. Instead of focusing on my limitations, I am writing in my gratitude journal daily. I have notes to remind myself of my worth and my health. I have a specific affirmation I am using for my healing. And Louise Hay shared a general affirmation that I have absorbed into my daily life, and I am sure that she would be okay with my sharing it here:

"All is well. Everything is working out for my highest good. Out of this experience only good will come, and I am safe."

Since I recommenced my affirmations I have already seen an improvement in my mobility. I know that I am open to the healing path now and that I will be fully healed.

Thank you Oprah, Louise, Cheryl and Martha! All is well--and job well done!
